Effects of Strip-Planting of Cotton-Wheat on Cotton Aphid

Abstract:

In order to explore the effects of strip-planting of cotton-wheat on cotton aphid, the population number and damage of aphid at cotton seedling stage were studied. The results showed that the strip-planting mode of cotton-wheat could reduce the number and damage of aphids at cotton seedling stage. The numbers of alate and apterae aphid were significantly lower than conventional planting mode, the number were decreased by 70.4% and 84.8% respectively, the percentage of cotton plants attacked by aphids and the percentage of curly-leaf plants by aphids were decreased by 67.4% and 81.3% respectively. In cotton strips, the control effects of border rows on aphids was significantly better than middle rows, the number of alate and apterae aphid decreased by 43.7% and 54.3% respectively, and the percentages of cotton plants attacked by aphids and curly-leaf plants by aphids decreased by 52.4% and 84.6%, respectively.
