Effects of DA-6 Treatment at Post-Anthesis on Seed Vigor of Maize Inbred Zheng 58

Abstract:

As an efficient plant growth regulator, DA-6 had significant effects on crop yield-increasing, stress-resistance, disease-resistance, quality-improving, and early-maturity, however the research about their effect on seed vigor was limited. In this study, a maize inbred line Zheng 58 was used as a test material. 6g/L DA-6 was uniformly sprayed on plant leaves at 0, 5, 15, 25, and 35 days after anthesis (DAS) to study its effects on plant seed vigor. The results showed that spraying DA-6 at different growth stages could increase the protein content of seeds to different levels, and subsequence affect the seed vigor. By comparing to CK, the effect on seed vigor by spraying of DA-6 gradually increased with the postponing of treatment time. The treatment at 35 DAS, the seed vigor index reached a maximum value of 0.77, which was 0.10 higher than that of CK. Therefore, the spraying of DA-6 on maize inbred line Zheng 58 at 35 DAS could increase the seed vigor of maize effectively.
