The Influence of Resistant and Susceptible Soybean Germplasm on Growth Dynamic Changes of Soybean Cyst Nematode Race 3(SCN3)

Abstract:

A pot experiment was conducted with resistant cultivars Wuzhai Heidou, 07-2-10-6 and susceptible cultivars Hefeng 35, 07-2-7-14. The influence of different germplasm to growth dynamic changes of soybean cyst nematode race 3(SCN3)were determined. The results indicated that root exudates had an important effect on the egg hatch of SCN3. Root exudates of Hefeng 35 and 07-2-7-14 stimulated egg incubation of SCN3, while root exudates of Wuzhai Heidou and 07-2-10-6 inhibited egg incubation of SCN 3. After incubating 10 days, the J2 hatching rate of Hefeng 35, 07-2-7-14 were 3.71 and 4.38, respectively, while the J2 hatching rate of Wuzhai Heidou, 07-2-10-6 were 0.89 and 1.39, respectively. The dynamic changes of SCN3 in soybean root indicated that the number of J2 seldom invaded into resistant cultivars. There was only a part of larva at J2 stage that could develop to J3 stage, and their growth was delayed that the ratio of female to male was 1:4.13. But there was a large number of J2 stage larva that invaded into susceptible cultivars, and most of them could develop to J3 stage. The growth speed of larva in susceptible cultivars was faster than that in resistant cultivars, and the ratio of female to male was 10.56:1. The resistant mechanism of Wuzhai Heidou to SCN 3 was integrated effects of anti-intrusion, anti-growth and anti-reproduction.
