Effects of Na2SO4+NaCl Mixed Salt Stress on the Growth of Sugar Beet Seedlings

Abstract:

To explore the saline tolerance of sugar beet seedling,a potted cultivation test with KWS0143 and Beta464 as materials was conducted.We studied the change of seedling germination rate,fresh and dry weight, total chlorophyll content and chlorophyll a/b under the combined stress of different salty concentrations of 0, 0.5%, 0.7% and 0.9% (Na2SO4:NaCl=1:2). The results showed that: 0.5% and 0.7% of Na2SO4+NaCl could promote the growth of beet seedlings, compared with the biomass of control group; When the concentration increased to 0.9%, the growth of sugar beet seedling was significantly inhibited, and the fresh and dry weight and total chlorophyll content of seedling decreased, compared with the control group; Under the tested conditions,strain KWS0143 had a higher salt tolerance than strain Beta464.
