Application and Improvement of Mobai Germplasm in Northwest Guizhou

Abstract:

There is significant contribution of Mobai germplasm used in maize breeding of northwest Guizhou. There are 3 key maize inbred lines: the inbred line Da 19 selected from Mobai 1, lines 449 and 405 from Mobai 94. The inbred line 449 is the one parent of 5 hybrids, such as Bidan 3, and 405 is the one parent of Bidan 4, and the hybrid Qianxi 4 is derived from the crossbreeding of 405 and Da 19. Inbred line W260 and 216 are derived from improved inbred-line 449, and they are also the parents of Bidan 10 and Bidan 13, respectively. Germplasm improvement of Mobai is mainly focused on inbred lines like 449 and Da 19, which achieved great improvement compared with their parents.
