Current Situation and Development Direction of Peanut Breeding in Jilin

Abstract:

In order to further clarify the objectives of peanut breeding in Jilin Province, the author discussed the status, existing problems and future development directions of peanut breeding. The short-term goal of peanut breeding in Jilin Province should be measured on high yield, early maturity, high oil content and high protein content. The intermediate and long-term goals should be balanced with resistant, high oleic acid and suitable mechanized breeding as well as focusing on the improvement of several excellent traits polymerization. The idea of combining traditional breeding with modern molecular breeding techniques, to develop breeding methods for new varieties of peanuts through multiple pathways and methods was promoted, based on market demand, meanwhile we must balance long-term goals and short-term effects to meet the production needs.
