Correlation Analysis of Amylopectin Content, Nutritional Quality and Agronomic Traits in Spring Millet Varieties

Abstract:

To broaden the high-quality spring millet varieties resources, the field experiment was conducted to study the relationship between the amylopectin content, nutritional quality and agronomic traits of 4 different spring millet varieties, which were expected to provide a theoretical basis for the selective breed of the high-quality spring millet varieties. The results were as follows: Significant difference existed among the amylopectin content in different spring millet varieties; the amylopectin content was significantly positively correlated with ash content, but was significantly negatively correlated with protein and amylose content; meanwhile, it was highly significantly positively correlated with ear hair length, but it was significantly negatively correlated with ear diameter and milled millet percentage. Therefore, a combination of nutritional quality and agronomic traits of the different spring millet varieties can improve the targeting and the efficiency of millet breeding.
