Breeding and Application Value of Purple Leaf Red Flower Common Buckwheat “Youtian Purple Red”

Abstract:

“Youtian Purple Red” is a new medium ripe buckwheat variety, which was identified by the Crop Appraisal Committee of Chongqing Seed Industry Association in June 2023. It has the morphological characteristics of purple leaves, purple stems, red flowers and red grains, as well as high contents of protein and high dietary fiber quality. The flowering period of “Youtian Purple Red” lasts for a long time, and the stems, leaves, flowers, and grains have highly ornamental property, making it suitable for promoting the integration development of agriculture and tourism industries in rural areas.
