Dynamic Analysis on Population Growth and Yield of Mung Bean Affected by Different Sowing Time in Arid Regions

Abstract:

To investigate the suitable sowing time and density of mung bean in arid and semiarid regions of Inner Mongolia. Semi-erect and erect mung bean cultivars were used as test materials to study the changes of mung bean population growth and yield traits under different sowing time and density. The results showed that with the delay of sowing time, mung beans group leaf area index, plant height, grains per pod decreased but the number of branches per plant, pods per plant and yield increased first and then decreased. The suitable sowing time of mung bean was between late May and early June. The semi-erect cultivars had the highest yield with planting density 230 000 plants/hm 2, increase planting density to 270 000-300 000 plants/hm 2 was need for late sowing. Erect cultivars was suitable for high density planting, but not suitable for late sowing, the suitable planting density was 270 000-300 000 plants/hm 2.
