Effects of Meloidogyne incognita Infection on Tobacco Root System under Different Temperatures

Abstract:

In order to investigate the effects of Meloidogyne incognita (M.incognita) on physiological and biochemical indexes of resistant and susceptible tobaccos (Nicotiana tabacum) under different temperatures, the indexes of roots at each stage were determined. The growing temperatures were controlled by photosynthetic incubator and the M. incognita inoculated artificially. According to the results, Peroxidase (POD), Catalase (CAT) activities, hydroxyproline glycoprotein (HRGP), soluble sugar and proline contents were significantly increased in all varieties, while Superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity decreased. The range of physiological and biochemical indexes reached maximum at 25℃ while minimum at 35℃. Therefore, at higher temperature such as 35℃ might have the greatest influence on M.incognita invasion. SOD, POD, CAT activities, hydroxyproline glycoprotein, soluble sugar and proline contents may closely relate to the tobacco resistance to M.incognita.
