Adaptation of Five Potato Cultivars in Hunan Winter Paddy Field

Abstract:

We compared potatoes quality, yield, and economic output among five suggested potato varieties to select the suitable cultivar to develop in Hunan. The results showed that under the condition of uniform cultivation, the yields of ‘Longshu No.7’ and ‘LK99’ were higher than that of the control by 41.28% and 29.80%, respectively. The yields, disease resistance and comprehensive agronomic traits of ‘Longshu No.7’ and ‘LK99’ were of great performance which meant that they were suitable for promoting plantation in Hunan winter paddy field. ‘Heijingang’ produced a low yield but high contents in anthocyanin and dry matter which might suggest some potential prospect as characteristic potato. ‘Favorita’ as a traditional cultivar came with a high yield, high dry matter content, shorter growth period, however its inferior disease resistances may result in moderate development.
