Comparison of Three Antagonistic Bacteria against Phytophthora infestans in Potato

Abstract:

Sy11, M15 and A5295 are antagonistic strains of Phytophthora infestans, screened in previously experiments in our lab. In order to clear which is the most potential strain, the partial inhibitory characteristics of the three strains on P.infestans against and control efficiency of late blight on potato tuber slices were compared with dual-culture, punch method, and potato tuber slices, respectively. The results showed that both Sy11 and M15 were evident better than A5295 in suppression mycelial growth of P. infestans and spore germination, and three strains had no significant differences in control late blight on potato tuber slices. But Sy11 was stronger than M15 in restraining sporangia formation and zoospores germination, the inhibition rates of former were 68.9% and 71.3%, respectively, that of later were 56.7% and 67.3%, respectively, there were significant differences between Sy11 and M15. These findings showed that Sy11 strain might have the most potential in control potato late blight in future.
