Transformation of GmPHR1 and GmPAP4 Related to High Phosphorus Efficiency and Elite Germplasm Enhancement in Soybean (Glycine max)

Abstract:

Phosphorus is essential for soybean growth and development, and lack of phosphorus in soil has become an important limiting factor for high yield and quality in soybean. Most previous studies focus on transformation of single-gene related to phosphorus efficiency, while the transformation of double-genes into a plant was rarely reported in soybean. In this study, we used transgenic soybean plants with GmPAP4 or GmPHR1 to achieve new transgenic germplasms with double gene (GmPAP4 and GmPHR1) in a plant via Agrobacterium-mediated transformation and conventional hybridization techniques. It was found that both the methods could achieve co-transformation double-genes plants in variety JD12, and the positive plants were verified further by PCR and DNA sequencing methods. Thus, the new transgenic germplasms with GmPHR1 and GmPAP4 named “JD12-PHR1-PAP4” was obtained.
