Evaluation and Screening of Salt Tolerance in 100 Foxtail Millet at Germination Stage

Abstract:

The changes on buds and roots of 100 foxtail millet germplasm resources under salt stress at germination stage were studied, and they were comprehensively evaluated the salt tolerance. The results showed that 150mmol/L NaCl solution was suitable for screening salt tolerance of millet at germination stage. Under the salt stress, the millet bud was inhibited less than that of root. The order of index variation coefficient of 100 foxtail millet from big to small was: germination relative salt damage rate > relative activity index > relative germination potential > relative root dry weight > relative bud dry weight > relative germination index > relative bud length = relative root length > relative germination rate. Jinyuhonggu, Gongai 6, Honggaigu, and Jingu 29 were screened out as materials with strong salt tolerance through comprehensive analysis of various indicators.
